Super Smash Bros. Melee unofficially wins Evo 2013 donation drive

It appears the Super Smash Bros. Melee hype didn't end at Apex 2013. While not official yet, Melee has raised the most money in the Evo 2013 donation drive to earn the eighth and final spot at the event.

Don't call it a comeback.

The Evo 2013 donation drive has ended. With 17 games to choose from, only one winner could emerge. That winner (unofficially) is Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Melee raised $94,683 in the donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The game beat Skullgirls by nearly $16,000. In total, the drive raised over $220,000.

Here's the tweet from the Evo boss, Joey "Mr. Wizard" Cuellar.

"The unofficial winner of the Evo 2013 Breast Cancer Donation Drive, and the coveted 8th game slot at Evo 2013 goes to Super Smash Bros Melee."

Mr. Wizard notes that it'll take a few weeks to see if all the donations are correct. The last time Super Smash Bros. Melee made it to the main floor of Evo was in 2007.
