PC version of Skullgirls to use Steamworks

With the upcoming PC release of Skullgirls, keyboard warriors wondered which online system they would use for the game. In what some could consider as a surprise (and good) move, it will not utilize Games For Windows Live.

Move over Games For Windows Live (GFWL), this isn't Capcom.

Skullgirls will use Steamworks for its online play according to Gamers Gate (via EventHubs). This is a bit new for fighting games on the PC as most of them use GFWL. Capcom uses it for all their fighting games and the online service was also used on Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection.

Since Steamworks is also compatible with the PS3, PC gamers should be able to play with PSN users online. Skullgirls for the PC is set to be released sometime early this year.
