Over $32,000 in Evo 2013 donations exceeded

The Evo 2013 donation drive doesn't end until Jan. 29, but the amount of money it has received is staggering. Also find out the latest standings in the fan's vote for the eighth Evo game.

Livestrong.

Earlier this month, Joey "Mr. Wizard" Cuellar announced the lineup for Evo 2013. The seven games officially announced were Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition 2012, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Mortal Kombat 9, Street Fighter x Tekken, King of Fighters XIII, and Persona 4 Arena.

Evo's head honcho decided it would be best to leave the eighth game for the fans to choose. In order to do this, voters would have to donate to the Breast Cancer Research Fund here. The drive closes on Jan. 31.

Voters get to choose from a slew of titles including Super Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl. My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic lost a significant lead. Because Fighting is Magic doesn't have a release date, if it ends up earning first place, it will have an exhibition and the second place game will be showcased on the main floor. SRK has now revealed that over $32,000 has been donated so far. Melee saw the huge boost in the number of donations made. Skullgirls is currently in second place and Fighting is Magic has dipped considerably to third place.

Here are the standings as of today (Jan. 21).

  • $14,268 Super Smash Bros. Melee
  • $6,650 Skullgirls
  • $5,235 MLP, Fighting is Magic
  • $1,581 Dead or Alive 5
  • $1,210 Guilty Gear XX, Accent Core Plus
