Two Cents: Super Smash Bros. Wii U

Wii Smash U.

Satoru Iwata announced at E3 that the new Wii U console would release a new Smash Bros game sometime in the future. Iwata plans on having Masahiro Sakurai work on the next title right after he is done with Kid Icarus for the 3DS.

The new Smash game will also have a 3DS port and will be compatible with the Wii U version.

Now our thoughts on the game after the jump.

Each Smash Bros game had its own style of fighting with N64’s party-like simplicity, Melee’s speed, combos and technical maneuvers as well as Brawl’s strategic chess-like gameplay. Now we move on to Super Smash Bros. Wii U.

We think the fourth installment to the Super Smash Bros. franchise should have its own fighting style but nothing copied or too complicated and a roster everyone can agree on. A bunch of nostalgic songs and stages that would make casual and hardcore gamers happy wouldn't hurt either.

And just be original good ol' smash bros.

So far, there are no signs of ports for GameCube controllers so everyone would have to deal with using the Wiimote and its accessories. Having one of the best controllers for Super Smash Bros. removed can be a downer for most players and hopefully Nintendo will have an option to please everyone.

The announcement of Super Smash Bros. Wii U at E3 definitely gained interest amongst fans, but we've still got a long way to go before we can get our hands on it. A good thing is that the Wii U won’t be using the friend code system.

Cause that's no good.

Despite the rumors and what Sakurai does with the game, it’s still Smash Bros. It’s Nintendo’s baby and majority of the Nintendo fans love it and will play it regardless of what they do with this one.
