Norcal Regionals 9 recap and final thoughts

This tournament had some amazing upsets.

In SSFIV:AE, four Yuns made the top 4 and one of them won the tournament. Daigo takes another tournament. His new serious attitude toward the game shows the world that he was only playing around in the previous installments of the game. Will he be stopped at the next tournament?

The losers bracket matches of Ricky Ortiz vs Julio, Wolfkrone and Marn
Ricky took out out two Yuns then Wolkrone's Viper and made it into top 3. Vangief vs Wolfkrone was a match that people felt came too early in the bracket but was hype nontheless.

Filipino Champ and Justin Wong did not make it into top 8 surprisingly with Justin losing to Mr. Naps and his Evil Ryu and FutureChamps' Fei Long. Filipino Champ was very upset at his loss. He did play a best of five match vs. Daigo and beat his Ryu 3-2 but lost easily 3-0 vs. Daigo's Yun.

MvC3 & MK 9 results recap after the jump.

In MvC3, X-Ray showed that he didn't need the "two best friends" team of Wolverine/Akuma or Phoenix, showing off his Amazing Amaterasu and comebacks with Wolverine. Detrimantix from Canada and Filipino Champ displayed
impressive Phoenix play, but the true star Phoenix player was Tinh who defeated Justing Wong and Floe in winners and achieved 2nd place.

Now Phoenix wasn't the only notable player on his team. His Taskmaster and Magneto proved to be no slouches as well. A lot of Wolverines and Akumas made it into the top 8 showing that Phoenix isn't the only threat in the game. Justin Wong takes the tournament proving that he can beat Phoenix, utterly destroying Tinh 6-0.

Daigo did make it into top 8 but his lack of match-up experience was the death of him and he loses early.

In MK9, Michaelangelo takes another tournament with his Kabal defeating Wong.
Wong pulls out his other character, Raiden to defeat Alex Valle.
EPH surprisingly defeats the PDP 2nd place competitor Floe with Kano and his up ball big ups to him.
