Mortal Kombat movie scheduled for 2013 release

Kevin Tancharoen, director of "Fame" and "Glee: The 3D Concert" tells Hero Complex that his recently announced Mortal Kombat film will see a 2013 release. Shooting will start in March 2012.

Due to the success of his Mortal Kombat: Legacy web series, Tancharoen was offered to direct the feature film by Warner Bros.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy originated from Tancharoen's short film titled "Mortal Kombat: Rebirth." After a positive reception from fans, Warner Bros gave Tancharoen the green light to do a web series.

Thus, Mortal Kombat: Legacy debuted on Machinima's YouTube channel on April 11, 2011.


The ninth and final episode of Mortal Kombat: Legacy was released on July 24, 2011.

By the end of its run, Mortal Kombat: Legacy had surpassed 30,000,000 views after just the fifth episode.

Due to its success, Warner Bros will be releasing an uncensored Blu-ray version of the series on November 8.
