E3 Preview: Street Fighter X Tekken

Capcom’s Street Fighter and Namco’s Tekken will be showing a preview of their combined work known as Street Fighter X Tekken.

Two games of this crossover will be released and the first one, Street Fighter X Tekken will play like the Street Fighter games while the Tekken X Street Fighter will play like the Tekken games.

The game will play like a tag team fighter like one of the modes from Mortal Kombat 9. The levels will be a combination of both games. From looking at this trailer the game will have a story mode of the combine series where we peer into the world of a what if scenario of both worlds combined.

Currently the confirmed roster for the game:
Ryu, Chun-Li, Guile, Kazuya Mishima, Nina Williams, Abel, Bob, King, Marduk, Ken Masters and a recent trailer reveals Julia Chang will be joining the fray.

At E3 2011 (June 6-9, 2011) the game will be shown in a more in-depth look, possibly revealing more characters and game modes.

From peaking at a few videos, we assume this game will be good but it probably won’t replace Super Street Fighter IV especially with Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition coming around.

It will be up there in the competitive fighting scene though.

We like that: Combining the two franchises for fan service is amazing. The game plays like the popular Super Street Fighter IV game. It has plenty of characters to choose from. A tag team system for 2-4 players, hopefully.

We're not so sure about: The colors in the game, for example, the life bars may bother a few people. The transition of the Tekken characters fighting in 2D instead of 3D will make it difficult for Tekken characters to approach the projectile using Street Fighter Characters but Capcom should be able to balance it.
