Capcom re-evaluating DLC delivery method

So they say.

Before its release, Street Fighter x Tekken (SFxT) was marred by controversy. Since they were first announced at New York Comic Con 2011, gems have left a bad taste in the mouths of the fighting game community (FGC). An even bigger issue occurred just before launch day.

On-disc DLC.

To avoid more controversy in the future, Capcom Vice President, Christian Svensson has took to Capcom-Unity to address fans who are losing hope and patience. See his official statement after the jump.

Street Fighter x Tekken: Still no patch for online 2 player local co-op on Xbox 360

Mixed signals.

Capcom fans looking to play Street Fighter x Tekken's (SFxT) two player local co-op on Xbox Live were in for a rude awakening. Despite claiming the feature was available on the Xbox 360 version's manual, the company only included it in the PS3 version.

The good news was that not all hope was lost. Seth Killian and Ayano both said there would be news on pair play update last week.

It didn't happen.

Instead, Capcom's VP Christian Svensson has put an even bigger cloud on the feature's status. Here's what he had to say on Capcom-Unity:

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3: DLC fix coming March 27 for PS Vita

Time to plug up the holes.

Since the release of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (UMvC3) on the PS Vita, gamers haven't been able to access DLC that they had previously purchased on PSN. These include characters: Jill Valentine and Shuma-Gorath.

One feature promoted for UMvC3 was the ability to swap DLC purchased for the PS3 version of the game over to the PS Vita version. Currently, you can only swap skins.

On March 27, that changes according to Capcom:

Capcom releases statement on Street Fighter x Tekken DLC

And boom goes the dynamite.

Over the weekend, it was discovered that Capcom locked DLC content in the Street Fighter x Tekken (SFxT) disc. Unfinished prologues, skins and character models were found. This also confirmed that Mega Man and Pac Man are indeed coming to the Xbox 360.

So what was Capcom's reasoning behind this? See the explanation (via Capcom-Unity) after the jump:

Capcom VP explains why PC games come out later than console versions

Are PC gamers left in the dark?

You might think so and it's not hard to see why. While PC gamers are often allowed to use their creativity via mods, consoles often get more exclusives and companies go through extreme lengths to stop piracy.

Even if it means penalizing the ones who made the purchase.

While frustration is setting in on the gamer, Capcom cares about the PC. At least that's what vice president Christian Svensson says (via Capcom-Unity):

Capcom VP: I'm not sure how Smash Bros. couldn't be considered a fighting game

Kind words or simply a matter of truth?

Capcom Vice President, Christian Svensson, spoke to members of the Capcom-Unity forums recently. One member asked if Svensson considered the Smash Bros. series to be a real fighting game franchise.

The Smash Bros. series started in 1999 with Super Smash Bros. for N64. Melee succeeded it for the Gamecube in 2001 and Brawl followed in 2008 for the Wii.

Street Fighter x Tekken: New Feature to be Revealed this Friday (Jan. 13)

Pandora mode? Check. Gem system? Check. New feature coming this Friday (Jan. 13)? Check.

Street Fighter x Tekken (SFxT) is one of the most anticipated fighting games in recent memory, which is why it should come as no surprise that Capcom is loading the upcoming crossover with a bevy of features.

In order to avoid the lack of features that plagued the original Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (MvC3) title, Capcom has added new features such as the Gem system and Pandora mode. Now a new feature will make its way to the crossover.

Street Fighter x Tekken: Divine speed gems (Video)

Much to the chagrin of some fans, Capcom-Unity has posted a high definition version of the divine speed gems in Street Fighter x Tekken (SFxT). The 23 second clip shows the difference in Zangief's speed with and without the gems. One thing remains the same, however, Kazuya receives a piledriver.
