It Came From Capcom: Marvel vs. Capcom

(Kenneth Melendez contributed to this article)

Let's go crazy!

Those are the three words the announcer yells as you enter the title screen of Marvel vs. Capcom. This is the game that started the ultimate crossover between worlds.

Heroes and villains from the Capcom universe and the Marvel universe face off in this fast-paced fighting game.

Professor Charles Xavier from the X-Men has called out heroes to stop the infamous Onslaught. Team up with anyone from the Capcom side or Marvel in order to save the world from utter destruction.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes was released in the late 90s on the arcades, then ported on the Sega Dreamcast and the Sony Playstation consoles.

It Came from Capcom: Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters

Mega Man returns in Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters.

The game was originally released in the arcades as a Japan only title in 1996. It was later ported to consoles and made available in America as part of the Mega Man Anniversary Collection.

Power Battle's successor basically plays the same as its predecessor. The controls are the same and as you advance through the levels you gain a new boss ability.

It's a blast from the past as even more enemies and allies return in this awesome arcade adventure. Mega Man, Bass, and Proto Man return with Duo, a new playable character who first made his appearance in Mega Man 8.

It Came From Japan: New Mobile Report Gundam Wing Endless Duel

Based on the popular anime hit series Mobile Suite Gundam Wing, New Mobile Report Gundam Wing Endless Duel hit Japan for the SNES in the late 90’s. Sadly the game never made it across the states. We missed out on a great 2D Gundam game, luckily there are English patches out there if interested.

When starting the game you are greeted with a intro screen, playing one of the themes in classic 8 bit. Nostalgia will hit as you gaze upon the characters, and Mobile Suite Gundam.

The gameplay is similar to Marvel vs. Capcom in which your able to perform air combos, specials, and you can dash. It’s a really fun game that gets crazy the more you play. Giant robots, projectiles, and laser swords.

What more could you ask for in a Gundam game?

It Came From Sega: Streets Of Rage 2

In the 90’s, Streets Of Rage 2 made its way into the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. This awesome beat ‘em up classic improved upon the first game, both graphically and gameplay wise. Specials in the game let you whale on other opponents, and the characters had improved movesets.

It’s my favorite game out of this classic trilogy and one my favorite beat ‘em ups on the console in general.

Set exactly one year from the first game, the evil Mr. X has returned to seek revenge. You have to fight your way from the city, all the way to his evil hideout located on a mysterious island. It’s up to the four heroes of the game of which you choose to put a stop to his plan to take over the city.

It's an addicting game that gets fun and more difficult as you play it and progress. Complete with its challenging bosses and enemies that you encounter along the way, you get to use whatever is around you as a weapon. Find a knife on the floor your enemies dropped? Pick it up and use it against them.

Almost everything you find in the area of the game can be used as a weapon and can also be breakable.

It Came From Arc System Works: Guilty Gear

Guilty Gear is one of the coolest 2D fighting games to ever hit the PlayStation console back in 1998. The game had an awesome rock n roll theme with a soundtrack that hyped up the gameplay.

One of the characters in the game is named Axl Low. His appearance was based heavily on the lead singer of the band Guns N Roses, Axl Rose. There are a lot of band references throughout the game and you can tell that it was heavily influenced by pop culture and music.

“Heaven or Hell! Lets Rock!” yells the announcer upon starting a match.

The game is based on combos and how well you can time and pull them off. It’s a game where you can’t really button mash because pressing the wrong button would leave you wide open for someone to destroy you. It’s a deep game that takes practice to learn all of its awkward moveset commands. Once you get the character's movesets down, the game gets you hooked.
