First patch for Steamworks version of AE 2012 available now

Capcom has released the first patch for the Steamworks version of AE 2012. Find out what has been fixed inside.

It's a start.

Two days ago (June 4) Capcom revealed they were hoping to get the first patch released for the PC version of Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition 2012 (AE 2012) by this weekend. When the game's online service was moved from Games For Windows Live (GFWL) to Steamworks, problems ensued.

Two glaring issues have been region restrictions on matchmaking and the inability to disable voice chat within the options. Those issues have been addressed as well as others.

This morning (June 6) a patch was released for AE 2012. This will not be the final patch as Capcom's Christopher Smith says the company is currently looking into a number of other issues players have been dealing with. For now, they'll have to make due with the fixes seen below.

- Region restriction in matchmaking is being addressed.
- Adding ability to mute out within the in-game options.
- Setting the BGM to 0 will mute the music completely.
- The 11th and 12th colors from SFIV will be unlocked for everyone.
- Constant prompt and need to install the redistributable will be removed.
- The GFWL install attempt will also be fixed.
- The country flag placeholder will now display the neutral grey SSFIVAE logo instead of the Ultra SFIV logo.

Fernando's POV: The patch took about five seconds to download. I can now compete with players outside of my region, but lag is still present even when using offline modes and going through menus. Capcom didn't promise to fix this in the first patch, but I hope they do so for the next one. They were quick to alleviate two big issues that occurred following the Steamworks transition so I'm happy for now.
